A Downward Spiral (warning: this may get dark)

Again I haven't blogged in quite a while and I haven't been keeping up with the news like I used to. The news always depresses me especially when you understand the endgame. They say we are coming out of the recession but no new jobs open up, unemployment keeps going higher and wages stay the same.
I've been at the same job for 3 years now, 2 of those years working for a temp agency. I just recently got hired on by the company who owns the temp agency (yeah it sounds like conflict of interest to me too). But it doesn't really help me much except that I get insurance now. My wages stay the same (not even cost of living raises) and no bonuses. I complain about my job and I hear people say "Well find another job". Trust me, I would love more than anything to find another job but if you haven't noticed the job market isn't what it was 10 or even 5 years ago. So I'm stuck settling for good enough as is most of America while the sons of bitches in Washington sit in their ivory towers getting fat and not having to worry about what political decisions they make because they know their families are taken care of. Meanwhile our country keeps falling farther into this sinkhole created by greedy and corrupt polititions hellbent on making some big money before their terms are up. They don't give a shit about you and me, they only care about their pockets.
On a lighter note (yeah right) I just read that gasoline is predicted to hit 4 bucks a gallon this year and over $5 by 2012. That means that people barely making it on their meager salary (like myself) will have to pay even more just to get to their "good enough" jobs making it even harder to provide for a family. When gasoline prices go up, diesel prices go up even more so companies that haul the goods that we buy in stores will have to charge more per load making the prices of the goods go up even more. Meanwhile the wages of the common man stay the same so you will have to pay even more at the stores again making it even harder to provide for your family. Sacrifices will have to be made... sacrifices that may effect your family's health or well being and will damn sure effect their happiness.
I thought this was the "land of opportunity" where every man is equal. Where "liberty and the persuit of happiness" are our way of life. This was not the America that I was promised in my school text books. We are heading for a social collapse if something isn't done to stop it and the change must happen quick. The Soviet Union was the stongest country in the world but they collapsed overnight and we're heading for the exact same scenario within the next decade.
